How to Add a Custom Attribute?

Before we start, let's understand what a custom attribute is:

A custom attribute is essential information that you attach to conversations or customers. It provides additional context or details about a particular interaction.

Adding a Custom Attribute

1. Accessing Custom Attributes Settings:

  • Navigate to Settings -> Custom Attributes from the sidebar.

2. Adding a Custom Attribute:

  • Click the "Add Custom Attribute" button on the top right corner of the page.

  • A modal will open up, guiding you through the attribute creation process.

3. Filling in the Fields:

  • Define who the custom attribute applies to: It can be a conversation or a contact.
  • Add a display name: This is the label that renders the custom attribute.
  • Provide a brief description of the attribute.
  • Select the type of the attribute: It can be text, number, link, date, list, or a checkbox.

4. Creating the Attribute:

  • Once all the fields are filled in, click the "Create" button.
  • Your newly-created attribute will be added to the list of available custom attributes.

5. Managing Custom Attributes:

  • You can always edit or delete your custom attributes by clicking the respective icon next to each attribute.
